Dr. Ruth Barrett
Ruth has been a valuable part-time member of our veterinary team for 5 years. As well as avian medicine, she is experienced in dog, cat, rabbit and guinea pig clinical practice and surgery.
She is particularly fond of cockatiels and has three at home.
In her spare time, Ruth likes to take her kids on outings to nature parks and the zoo. Both her children want to be vets when they grow up and they love to visit the clinic to see the quakers and eat the biscuits from the staff kitchen.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY?
KIND WORDS FROM RUTH'S CLIENTS
"Thank you so much to all the staff. Dr Ruth, Mel and Ethan. You are compassionate and professional. I can recommend this clinic for all avian issues. Lovely staff. Nice to know you’re only a short drive away."
"I've been to this clinic a couple of times - to see Dr Phil and Dr Ruth. Their expertise and kindness saved my budgie's life last year when they admitted her to bird hospital. She was not eating or pooing, and they ran diagnostics to figure out she had lead poisoning and treated her effectively. I've been to a couple of other clinics as well in recent years and noone can really beat the experience of the clinicians here. For example in this clinic they know how to take xrays of a budgie without putting it under general anaesthesia, which is so good because general anaesthesia is a bit risky for very small birds. If you have conundrums or complicated pet cases in particular, these docs are the ones you need. Their services are also on the more affordable side if you compare the billed items to other clinics in other suburbs, states or countries - I really appreciate this so much. We are lucky to have a world class service right here.!!!! "
"The Vet Ruth, who cared for our two very badly injured chickens who were attacked by a fox, is absolutely amazing. Ruth ensured both our chickens were stitched up and survived. Ruth is knowledgeable, caring and everything you need when a loved pet is in pain and distress. Thank you Vet Ruth and her brilliant team."
